Albuquerque area homes tax value roll back

The Bernalillo County Assessor covering the Albuquerque Metro Area has announced she will be rolling back property values for homes sold since 2002. This is a huges step for her, and for homeowners... as it could result in homeowners saving thousands of dollars on future tax bills.

The impact on the amount of tax collected by Bernalillo County could also see a big reduction which could affect the budgets and funding.

Apparently there's been a few court decisions which led County Assessor Karen Montoya to make the decision. It is felt the current home property tax is not equitable.

We'll be standing by to see how this change will be rolled out.
