Career Fair for Hewlett Packard in Rio Rancho
Hewlett Packard (HP) will be holding a career fair this Thursday at the Santa Ana Star Center, February 11, 2010.
HP is seeking applications to fill positions at their new Rio Rancho facility as technical solution consultants, inside sales representatives, inside sales trainees, and inside pre-sales solutions architects.

Bernalillo American Gypsum Plant closes
The familiar white plume on the North edge of Bernalillo, NM, is no longer rising. The American Gypsum plant there has closed. Apparently the plant has suffered from the slump in new home and commercial construction which resulted in the decline for the need for wall board.
It's reported that the long term fate of the plant is unclear, and the 70 employees there have been pared to a few to maintain the facility, 46 were transferred to the Albuquerque location, others were laid off.
As Realtors, we know that new home construction has slowed in the Bernalillo and Rio Rancho areas. There are new homes still being built by DR Horton and others in the Santiago neighborhood in Bernalillo.

Rio Rancho Loma Colorado neighborhood by Pulte Homes
Home options in Rio Rancho include considering new construction. One new home neighborhood which has been highly successful is the Pulte Homes neighborhood called Loma Colorado. Their home prices start around $180,000 with many many floor plans to choose from. They have executive one story homes, large two story homes, and many to choose from.
In the past, Pulte usually had a good inventory of homes under construction. At present, they have less inventory homes, and more buyers will need to pick their lot and floor plan and have a house built. This gives home buyers the opportunity to pick cabinets, tile, carpet, and other options.

Venturi Team of Realtors in Mexico!
Over Christmas, we were fortunate to go to Akumal, Mexico, and leave the Albuquerque Real Estate business behind in Darlene's capable care. We went out to Christmas Eve dinner at La Cueva del Pescador in Akumal, and after dinner, had a young boy snap a photo of all of us. Albuquerque Real Estate including Corrales homes
While showing homes in Corrales recently, I was again reminded of why so many people like Corrales. The homes for sale vary from condos to estates, but all seem to say "I live in New Mexico" with southwestern flair or architecture. Whether down by the Bosque and Cottonwood Trees, or up on the hillside with awesome views, there's great choices in homes. While many homes in Corrales accommodate "farm" animals, there are other areas where horses and chickens are not allowed.

The number of homes facing foreclosure in the United States has risen to a record 2.8 million. This is 1 in 45 homes. This number appears to be rising.
In New Mexico, we were ranked 32nd in activity with 7,212 properties facing foreclosure proceedings which equates to 1 in 120 homes.

Rio Rancho UNM City Center Campus opens Tuesday!!
UNM Rio Rancho Campus at City Center is set to open Tuesday with approximately 400 students! It seems that it was just yesterday that this UNM branch was planned, and now the building is there and ready. Congrats to UNM on a job well done.
There are many more homes and people living near the City Center now. If you haven't been out to Rio Rancho lately, take a drive. There's great restaurants and homes.
